Fall Electrical Safety Tips

Now that the sun has set on Summer for another year, our service team would like to share some relevant Fall electrical safety tips with you!

  • Safely store away warm weather tools, such as lawn mowers and trimmers. Drain the fuel if not electrically operated.
  • Check cold weather tools, such as leaf or snow blowers, along with their power cords, for unusual wear and tear. Repair or replace worn tools or parts right away.
  • Use only weatherproof electrical devices for outside activities.
  • Protect outdoor electrical devices from moisture.
  • Fall being one of the driest seasons, keep dry leaves swept away from outdoor lighting, outlets and power cords to eliminate a potential fire risk.
  • Inspect all your outdoor electrical wiring and cords to ensure they’re working properly. If you notice a small tear or rip in a cord, replace it. Don’t continue to use a damaged cord as you risk harming or destroying your electrical equipment.
  • Test your smoke and CO detectors to ensure that they’re working properly.
  • Install whole-home surge protection. Due to power surges which occur daily, we have witnessed many of our customers lose valuable electronics over the years. If severe weather conditions occur we want you to be adequately prepared.
  • If you come across any electrical issues during this or any other season, make sure you call Nightingale Service’s 24-Hour Electrical Service Line at 604 275 1111!
